For Students and Alumni

Career Fair: Career Opportunities & Employer Relations facilitates one of the largest career fairs in the Midwest each semester.

MinerJobs, GoinGlobal, & Mentor a Miner: Job search database and software is integral to students finding employment, establishing networking opportunities, etc.  Last year COER facilitated approximately 1,730 job postings specific for S&T students and provided access to over 100,000 general job postings.

On-campus Interviews: COER facilitates approximately 4,000 on campus interviews a year.

Advising: COER provides many professional development services to Missouri S&T students and alumni. Students and alumni may schedule appointment with a Career Advisor for a resume review, cover letter review, recorded practice interview, or an individual advising session.  Students receive assistance in areas that may include: understanding job offers, comparing offers, negotiating, preparing for plant trips, or writing a statement of purpose for graduate school applications.

LinkedIn: COER offers a full, in-depth review of your LinkedIn page, and will also take a professional photo of you, to update your LinkedIn Profile. 

InterviewStream: InterviewStream is a web-based mock interview program to assist you in preparation for upcoming interviews for internships, jobs, or graduate or professional school admission. It is a simple, fun, and effective way to refine and master your interviewing skills. This program is being offered by Career Opportunities & Employer Relations since the end of fall semester 2013.

Professional Seminars: COER organizes approximately forty career related seminars each semester; click here to see the list of seminars. In addition COER facilitates approximately 100 special presentations by request each semester.

Employer Events (Other than Career Fair): COER facilitates several employer events each semester.  You can see examples on our Calendar of Events.  These events are excellent opportunities for students to meet and network with recruiters from some of our top hiring companies. 

Employer Seminar Series: COER coordinates presentations with employers on a variety of topics. Topics may include: what is happening in industry, effective interviewing or how to transition from college to career.

Suit Closet: COER offers a FREE Suit Closet providing professional attire for students and alumni.

Professional Events (Other than Seminars): Each semester COER organizes professional development events such as the Etiquette Dinner, Extreme Makeover: Career Edition, and Career Fair Boot Camp.  The Etiquette Dinner is a special 5-course meal during which we teach sensible strategies for dining in business and formal settings. Career Fair Boot Camp is a one day professional development training in which several career development topics are covered such as resume writing, power introduction, interviewing, understanding employer’s mind set, mock career fair, and What Not To Wear fashion show. The Extreme Makeover is an essay contest for an Extreme Professional Makeover including new professional attire.
